At Smarter by 1 Degree, we know that testing can be challenging and sometimes it takes more than one try to show what you’ve learned. That’s okay! Our program is designed to help you learn, grow, and master the material.
The good news? Over 98% of our students pass their final exams on their first attempt!
Number of Attempts
Each student is allowed up to three (3) attempts to pass the final exam for any course.
A passing score is 70% or higher.
After each attempt, you’ll have time to review your End-of-Course (EOC) Review materials and strengthen any weak areas before trying again.
Tip: Students who carefully review their EOC notes before retesting almost always pass on their next attempt!
Retake Fees
Your first attempt is included with your course.
If a retake is needed, each additional attempt has a $75 retake fee.
This fee covers:
Reopening course access
Resetting your proctored exam
Administrative coordination with the university
Payment instructions will be emailed to you when you request a retake.
After Three Attempts
If you are unable to pass after three exam attempts, the university does not allow further retakes for that course.
This means:
You will not earn college credit for that specific class.
You’ll need to select another course to fulfill that requirement on your degree plan.
Our academic support team will guide you in choosing the best replacement course to keep you on track for graduation.
Before Retaking Your Exam
We want you to succeed so take advantage of these tips before your next attempt:
✅ Revisit your End-of-Course Review (EOC) thoroughly.
✅ Rewatch or re-engage with lessons covering your missed concepts.
✅ Take a short break before retesting to reset your focus.
✅ Contact support@smarterby1degree.com for personalized tips or study guidance.
Remember, retakes are not a setback — they’re a second chance to show mastery and prove to yourself how much you’ve learned.
Important Notes
Retakes must be completed within 90 days of your first exam attempt.
Each retake features a new randomized set of questions from the same course content.
Only your highest passing score will appear on your transcript.
